New Year's Vacation

Around Christmas, we usually go on vacation. However this year we didn't get it planned in time. The weekend before New Year's we decided to leave New Year's Day and go to Virginia Beach which is where we usually go.

Thursday

We left Thursday after an extended family breakfast. The trip down was fairly uneventful. Traffic slowed down before we entered the tunnel but other than that, traffic was wonderful. We arrived at Virginia Beach before our hotel was ready. One of my friends who used to live there recommended we stop at Book Exchange. We decided to go there first only to discover they were closed. The Goodwill next door was open so we went there instead. After that, we went to Going, Going, Gone which is basically a place where Dick's Sporting Goods sells things like returns and things that didn't sell. After that, our hotel was ready so we went and checked in. It was close to supper, so we decided to walk the boardwalk to Ocean Eddie's on the pier. The walk down was fun, but I didn't remember my heavy coat and it was freezing. I had a crab smash burger which was absolutely delicious! On the walk back, the Christmas lights on the boardwalk were on and they were really fun to walk through.

Friday

On Friday we decided to go to Book Exchange since they were open. While we were there, I wanted to do a demo drive of Tesla's Full Self Driving (FSD) capabilities. We got a thirty minute demo and I was really impressed! I don't know what I was expecting, but definitely not as good as it did. It did absolutely amazing! If you're ever near a Tesla service center I definitely recommend.

We went to a Goodwill Bins store and back to the Going, Going, Gone. Mom and I walked 3.5 miles on the boardwalk which was really fun. For supper, we went to Margie and Ray's and I got the salmon (in the top left of the picture).

Saturday

We got up and left. We drove to Richmond and shopped at World Market and Cabela's. We ate at Ford's Garage which was absolutely scrumptious! It was themed like a car shop with things like napkins made out of grease rags and napkin rings out of hose clamps. It had a really fun atmosphere and the food was delicious. I'd definitely go again sometime.
